Rooted in Nature, Nurturing Every Child

My name is Lucy, and I founded Little Rainbows in 2022. The vision behind Little Rainbows is to create a nurturing environment that feels like home, where children can connect with nature in meaningful ways. We focus on each child's individual curiosity, supporting their play and early learning through an appreciation of seasonal changes and the principles of hygge. Our primary aim is to nurture a passion for lifelong learning while protecting children’s innocence and championing the importance of play.

Before embarking on my journey as a childminder, I built nearly fifteen years of experience in the fashion industry, serving as an Account Manager. In this role, I collaborated with prominent high-street retailers in the UK, effectively managing communication between clients and manufacturing partners in India and China. This involved overseeing the entire production process, from the initial design stage to the delivery of products. This position allowed me to blend my creativity with a keen attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

 My daughter was born in 2017, granting me invalable time at home with her—moments I cherish deeply.

In 2019, I established the Rainbow Running Club, a community initiative aimed at supporting women facing infertility and baby loss. This initiative has become one of my proudest achievements, bringing together a remarkable group of women who provide each other with support during life's most challenging times. I organised both physical and virtual events across the UK, including running groups, yoga sessions, and retreats. Additionally, I developed merchandise, participated in various podcasts, raised funds for Tommy’s, and appeared in a television documentary. Through these experiences, I learned the vital importance of fostering a safe, supportive space where individuals feel valued, highlighting the transformative power of community. 

In 2022, I pursued further qualifications with Tiney, a childminding agency, to become an Early Years Educator. This career allows me to support my family while being present for my daughter. My daughter and husband are essential parts of our Little Rainbows family, and it has been immensely gratifying to witness the bonds formed between them and the children in my care, who become beloved members of our extended family.

Little Rainbows officially opened in September 2022, and since then, I have had the privilege of supporting numerous children in their growth and development. Creating a safe, nurturing, and home-like environment is of utmost importance to me. I am dedicated to ensuring that each child in my care feels secure, valued, and enthusiastic about coming each day. It is particularly heartening to see that many of our Little Rainbows show reluctance to leave at the end of the day—a wonderful affirmation of their happiness and contentment within our setting.
